The Penha de França viewpoint is located at the top of the “Cabeça de Alperce” hill, from where you could see the departure and arrival of ships during the golden age of the Discoveries, in the 15th century. Today, you are offered a magnificent panorama over the city’s rooftops, with the Tagus River to the right and a tip of the Vasco da Gama bridge, and on a clear day, Monsanto and Sintra to the left. On the other hand, you can also admire the beautiful church of Nossa Senhora da Penha de França in Mannerist and Baroque style.
